I have been tempted to do a Post, Sticky, Page, of Myths........ Move the speakers 1-3 feet away from the Back Wall......... Too much fibre absorption will cause dull recordings or mixes...... etc. I backed off because Ethan Winer has that market kinda covered. But I wonder, should we do a little open source on here?

Decent question Christian. I suspect if our numbers grow it may get answered down the road. I am curious as to how much diffusion is needed to become useful, audible. I see friends using, and I have recommended, Newell's 345 pattern. This presents 50/50 absorption and reflection. But I have read that 30% perforation is in effect, acoustically transparent. Also, I am a great admirer of the work of Bogic Petrovic, Boggy, sadly RIP way too young. He often used very sparse arrangements of lath over absorbent. So little that one could not imagine it making any difference at all. Conversely his My Room design used a huge area of diffusion. I have seen/hear a few videos on Youtube with a cello playing in such a space. The diffusion is easily and very audible.

Bercow is VERY ASSERTIVE about his Asymetrical Back Wall, but quite a few of us are dubious, and nobody else is doing it. A typical CR at that Pro Level might have 50% of it's volume taken by treatments. Would the inclusion of such a lot treatment alter those predictions? ( Boggy was asked about Room Ratios,,,,,, Modes. He replied What Modes? ) Could you simulate offset vs symmetrical in a regular rectangular space for us? Including long wall which would be a very useful option. DD
